MENASHA – A popular way for boaters to get in and out of Lake Winnebago has been shut down.
According to the Fox River Navigational System Authority’s website, the upper hinge on one of the downstream lock doors at Menasha failed on Friday.
The gate is upright and secured against falling. The hinge failed without warning when the door was almost complete open.
Contractors will meet Monday morning to discuss repairs. There will be no boat traffic through the Menasha Lock until repairs can be safely made.
