WINNECONNE – The Village of Winneconne celebrated a new addition to Grant Street Saturday.
People can now take advantage of a new walking and bike trail.
The community gathered for a ribbon cutting, and enjoyed hot dogs and refreshments.
Residents in a nearby subdivision requested the trail to give people better park access.
Village officials say the trail has been years in the making.
“Village administrators started the project, and they got a grant to build a bridge here which was the first start of it. So far 12 years, we’ve been working on this project,” said Winneconne village president John Rogers.
A large amount of the money used to construct the trail was raised by the village in 2009. The community raised $25 thousand.
