APPLETON (DOT) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is announcing full nightly closures on US 41 southbound at the US 41/WIS 47 (N. Richmond St.) interchange in Outagamie County begin Monday, June 30 and continue nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Wednesday night, July 2. During these same times, WIS 47 (Richmond Street) will be closed and motorists will need to seek alternate routes.
The closures will reduce US 41 southbound to one lane with traffic diverted up and back down the interchange ramps.
Motorists should anticipate backups on US 41 at this location, use caution and remain alert to signing directions.
The $4.2 million project will raise the clearance under the bridge from 15 feet to 16 feet 9 inches minimum – this is the last bridge along US 41 in Outagamie County to be raised. The bridge deck is also being widened from 39 feet to 39 feet 11 inches and the lanes are being reconfigured to add a separated bike/pedestrian lane. Work is expected to be completed in October.
