WINNEBAGO COUNTY – Four-legged friends were invited to let loose at the Winnebago County Park and do so for a cause.
The Friends of Winnebago County Dog parks hosted the fourth annual Doggie Paddle at the Beach event Sunday in Oshkosh.
Dogs could burn off some energy in the water, take a walk through the agility course and enjoy some doggie ice cream.
The county currently only has one dog park.
Proceeds from the event will go toward creating another.
Organizers say more dog parks are greatly needed in the community
“Dog parks are an opportunity that, especially now that we’ve become so much “city-ized,” that we can allow our dogs off leash, and can exercise them. They can be social with each other, dogs are very social animals, and we can get some exercise. So your dog can get exercise, people can get exercise, and that allows the dog then to be more better behaved,” said Michelle Kennedy with Friends of Winnebago County Dog Parks, Inc.
If you couldn’t make it to the event, don’t worry.
It will be held again on July 20 and August 23.
