Bay Port eliminated at state tournament

GRAND CHUTE — Trailing 2-1 after five innings, Janesville Parker scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and held on to defeat Bay Port, 4-3, in a Division 1 state quarterfinal baseball game at Fox Cities Stadium on Tuesday.

Bay Port (22-7), making its 11th state tournament appearance, outhit Parker (23-5), 9-4, and Parker committed four errors to Bay Port’s two.

Parker, however, had two hits in the sixth inning and Bay Port committed an error, leading to the three runs.

Troy Albrecht and Joey Maier each had two hits for the Pirates, while starting pitcher Dakota Klein went six innings, allowed four hits, four runs, but just one earned. He also struck out four and walked five.
