STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) – Portage County prosecutors are recommending 15 years in prison for a Stevens Point man who pleaded guilty to setting his apartment on fire.
The March fire destroyed the four-unit apartment building. Two tenants were inside when Roy Strait poured gasoline all over his apartment and ignited it. Both escaped injury.
WSAW-TV reports Portage County District Attorney Louis Molepske said Strait turned himself in following the fire and told investigators he wanted to go back to prison.
The 40-year-old Strait pleaded guilty to arson Monday. Two counts of recklessly endangering safety will be read during sentencing Sept. 26.
