Neenah – American civil war history came to life Sunday afternoon in Neenah through the sport of skirmishing.
It’s a marksmanship competition combined with Civil War era weapons. A person shoots at a target and they are judged on speed and accuracy.
Skirmishing is done with original or replica firearms.
The American Civil War Shooting Association wants to preserve Civil War history and they do that through this sport.
“Everyone here has an interest in history, it’s the history that many fore fathers had to do during the civil war and to just get a feel of what it was like on a skirmish line,” says Bob Chabalowski with American Civil War Shooting Association.
People participating were in teams that represented different regiments that took part in the Civil War.
Each person wore a replica or original uniform worn in the specific unit they represent.
