Tornado count lower this year

A cold spring across much of the central U.S. is responsible for less tornadoes this year. Even through the U.S. has had a lower tornado count, one tornado is too many. From January through early June there have been 35 tornado-related deaths.

The preliminary tornado count for 2014 from the Storm Prediction Center

  • Jan.: 4
  • Feb.: 41
  • March: 25
  • April: 220
  • May: 150
  • June: 25

The total so far: 465 tornadoes this year.
