GRAND CHUTE – The Community Blood Center of Appleton is expanding.
The center broke ground for a new storage garage for vehicles and medical supplies Monday afternoon.
The new facility is designed to hold nearly a dozen vehicles.
Community Blood Center president and CEO John Hagins says, most importantly, the addition will help them provide more services for the community.
“We anticipate that we may need as much as 15 percent more capacity and this will allow the capacity to open up in the building and at the same time bring folks all on campus so that when the blood comes back they can drop it off in the laboratory and they don’t have to go to a secondary site to park the vehicles.”
The new $1 million addition should be opened by this fall.
