WAUPACA – An autopsy was expected to be done Tuesday on a 2-year-old child who died over the weekend.

The Waupaca Police Department says officers were called to the 600 block of Elm Street around 8:15 a.m. Sunday. Police found a child who was unresponsive and not breathing. The child was taken to Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca and then transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

The child died at the Green Bay hospital.

Waupaca County Coroner Barry Tomaras said the autopsy would be performed by the Fond du Lac County medical examiner. Tomaras said autopsies are performed in Fond du Lac because Waupaca does not have a pathologist.

The Waupaca Police Department says the investigation continues.
