All about cherries in Door County

Looking for a scenic getaway?  Why not visit Door County?  This time of year the cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom, creating a beautiful sight.

Jon Jarosh with the Door County Convention and Visitor Bureau joined Good Day Wisconsin to talk more about the variety of cherry products available, which are made from Door County cherries.

Here’s some fun facts about cherries:

* Door County orchards typically harvest between 8-12 million pounds of cherries each year.
* Door County is the fourth largest cherry producer in the nation.
* Tart cherries are the most commonly grown variety in Door County.
* The average cherry tree contains around 7,000 cherries.  That’s enough to make 28 pies or 30 bottles of wine.
