BROWN COUNTY – Sheriff’s officials are investigating three cases of apparent vandalism to stop signs on Saturday.

Just before 7 a.m., deputies were called to the intersection of Morrison Rd. and Hwy. X in the town of Morrison. About 10 minutes later, officials were called to the intersection of Ryan Rd. and Old Martin Rd. in the town of Rockland. Then, just after 9 a.m., they were called to the intersection of Langes Corners Rd. and Town Hall Rd. in the town of New Denmark.

At each location, the stop sign’s post was broken at the base. Investigators believe a vehicle drove into the sign post very slowly, causing the damage. It’s unclear when the signs were damaged.

Sheriff’s officials warn that the person or people who damaged the signs will be held responsible for any crashes that happen because the signs were knocked over. If a crash involves injuries, the person or people who knocked over the signs could face felony criminal charges.
