Packers select defensive tackle in 3rd round

The Green Bay Packers selected Southern Mississippi defensive tackle Khyri Thornton in the third round of the NFL Draft on Friday night.

Thornton, 6 feet 2, 301 pounds, played 11 games last season for the Golden Eagles and recorded 6.5 sacks and 39 tackles.

Thornton gives the Packers depth inside with Ryan Pickett and Johnny Jolly both unsigned, while B.J. Raji signed a one-year deal this offseason.
