GREEN BAY – Traffic on Green Bay’s Leo Frigo Bridge has been flowing for months as reconstruction work on it continues.
You may remember part of the bridge sagged last year.
For the past two weeks, crews have been finishing up work below the bridge.
The Department of Transportation says concrete footings will reinforce the area where the bridge was repaired. A waterproofing layer around the piers was also installed.
The project leader says the long winter delayed some of the work.
“We started later than we wanted to. Obviously with the cold spring, they wanted to get a little earlier start, obviously the wet weather we’ve had in April, things haven’t progresses quite as quickly,” said Tom Buchholz, DOT project manager.
The DOT says this phase of the project should be complete by the end of the month. A final report about the entire event is expected to be released about the same time.
