Greenville student’s drawing in Google Doodle contest

GREENVILLE – A Fox Valley student’s drawing could soon be seen by a worldwide audience.

The search engine Google asked young artists to submit drawings of inventions that could make the world a better place.

Greenville Elementary third-grader Vinessa Verheyen was picked to represent Wisconsin.

The public now gets to vote on the 50 entries representing each state.

Google representatives held an assembly Tuesday afternoon at the school.

Verheyen explained what her drawing meant.

“It’s a cloud plow, it’s supposed to help have solar energy and bring rain to places that need it,” said Verheyen.

Voting ends May 9.

The winning student receives a $30,000 scholarship and their school gets a $50,000 technology grant.
