Bacon Mac and Cheese

Ingredients:

1 lb elbow macaroni

4 cups shredded extra sharp or sharp cheddar cheese

2 Tbsp all-purpose flour

1 Tbsp chopped garlic

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups low-fat milk (or go with whole if you’re feeling indulgent!)

1 Tbsp butter

Bacon crumbled

1 package French Fried onions

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray or grease a casserole dish or a 9×13 pan. Cook macaroni as directed on the package in salted water until tender. While macaroni is cooking, combine butter and garlic in pan. Heat butter to begin to cook garlic, but not brown. Add flour. Whisk to thicken. Add milk to roux on med heat and thicken. Once thickened add cheese and whisk to melt cheeses. Add Macaroni, cheese sauce, and crumbled bacon to a casserole dish. Mix thoroughly. Cover with french fried onions. Bake, covered for 30 minutes, then uncover for 15, until firm and golden brown. ENJOY!
