Gamblers fall to Indiana in playoff series

GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Gamblers’ season is over, losing 1-0 for a second straight night to the Indiana Ice. The Gamblers lost the best-of-five opening round series of the USHL playoffs against Indiana 3-to-1.

Gamblers goalie Jared Rutledge had 21 saves, but Indiana’s Denis Smirnov scored a first period power play goal, which proved to be the difference.

“I give our guys a ton of credit, we played really hard in the 2nd and 3rd [periods],” said Gamblers head coach Derek Lalonde. “Probably deserved a better fate, ton of credit to them and their goalie. They get the power play goal, we don’t , that ends up being the difference. Your season ends every year. You’re either the last guy standing or you’re not.”
