MILWAUKEE (AP) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ current nine-game winning streak has fans salivating.

If they make it 10 straight Monday by beating the Cardinals, Sobelman’s Pub & Grill near downtown Milwaukee will dish up free single-patty cheeseburgers all day Tuesday.

It’s similar to a more enduring Wisconsin tradition. In each season since the 1950s, George Webb Restaurants has predicted the Brewers would have a 12-game winning streak. If so, fans would get a free burger.

George Webb only had to pay up once, giving away some 200,000 burgers in 1987 when the team started 13-0.

Restaurant spokesman Ryan Stamm says if the Brewers win their 12th Wednesday, the chain will announce the date of the latest giveaway. It’d be within about a week to give the chain’s 31 locations time to ramp up inventory.
