One injured in Buchanan house fire

TOWN OF BUCHANAN – Several fire departments were called to a single-family house fire Saturday morning.

It happened just after 10 a.m. in the 2800 block of Schmalz Circle.

Officials say two adults and a child were in the house when the fire broke out. One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Town of Buchanan Fire Chief Rick Schroeder says the fire started in a second story room, then spread into the walls and up into the attic space.

Authorities say the house sustained severe damage and the family was displaced.

The Red Cross is helping out.

“To assist the family in finding a place to live for now, and get them additional resources to help,” said Schroeder.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
