Victims of Howard truck explosion identified

HOWARD – Brown County sheriff’s officials have released the names of the two men involved in a truck explosion in the village of Howard Thursday.

The driver of the truck, Gerald Throw Sr., 59, of Sobieski was killed in the explosion. The passenger, Jose Perez, 29, of Green Bay, suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was thrown from the truck.

Sheriff’s officials now say the truck is owned by McCoy NationaLease, Inc. and was being leased to Ace Manufacturing Industries.

The explosion happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday in an industrial area on Pamperin Rd.

The truck was traveling between Ace Manufacturing’s facilities in that area when the load shifted and pierced a fuel tank, causing the truck to explode.

Some nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution.
