APPLETON – Police arrested a man in connection with a burglary early Sunday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., police say they were called to the 2300 block of W. College Ave. A caller had reported seeing someone throw an object at the front window of one of the businesses in the building.

When they arrived, police found a man behind the building. He ran away, but police caught up to him. He kept struggling with officers; he was finally handcuffed when more officers arrived. No one was hurt in the struggle.

In their investigation, police say they found a damaged safe in the area where the man was found. The man had a large amout of cash, several cellphones and a large knife on him. Police also discovered that a window to the business was shattered.

The man arrested was a 24-year-old resident of a local shelter, police say. He has not yet been formally charged in the case.
