GREEN BAY – Wisconsin Public Service says time is running out for customers to get caught up on their utility bills.
WPS says nearly 26,000 customers are behind on payments and could have services cut after April 15.
State law says utility companies like WPS cannot disconnect residential service from November 1 through the middle of April.
WPS disconnected 15,000 customers last year when the deadline came.
Utility managers say the number of customers past due is slightly higher than last year but the amount they owe is much higher because of the colder weather.
WPS urges customers who are behind to call (866) 215-5812.
