MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Republican Rep. Mike Endsley of Sheboygan will not seek re-election, becoming the 12th member of the state Assembly to move on.
The 53-year-old Endsley was first elected in 2010 and announced his retirement plans on Friday.
Endsley is the seventh Republican to announce plans they would not run for re-election. Five Democrats are also not returning to the Assembly. Four of the Democrats and two Republicans who are not returning are instead running for other office.
The Assembly is controlled by Republicans who hold a 60-39 majority.
Endsley says in a press release that he feels this is the appropriate time to “explore new options in the private sector.”
