GREEN BAY – A man who was driving at more than double the speed limit when he crashed into a city police squad reached a plea deal with prosecutors.
Ryan Rivard pleaded no contest Monday to injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, first-degree reckless injury and bail jumping, according to online court records.
Five other counts, including fourth-offense drunk driving, were dismissed but can be considered by Judge William Atkinson at the May 2 sentencing.
Rivard was driving eastbound on Lombardi Ave. on Aug. 4, when he struck a squad driven by Officer Tracy Liska. She was pulling out of a gas station parking lot when struck. Liksa suffered a number of injuries, including a broken collar bone, a broken rib and punctured lung.
The speed limit is 35mph, with witnesses estimating Rivard’s vehicle was going 70-to-90mph.
