GREEN BAY – Is Green Bay ready for more high end hotels? A new study is in the works to answer that question.
Green Bay and Brown County’s Stadium District Board have agreed to pay for half of the study.
The money will come from a special economic development fund and not from Lambeau Field sales tax money.
The group planning to redevelop the Hotel Northland will pay for the other half.
Frantz Community Investors plans to turn the vacant downtown hotel into a 160 luxury room boutique hotel.
City officials say the study will prove the project’s feasibility to potential banks. They say the study should also benefit other possible hotel needs in the area.
City officials say the study should cost between $25,000 and $30,000. They hope to have it done by late April.
