MILWAUKEE (AP) – Time Warner Cable Inc. has agreed to pay $130,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed on behalf of a fired worker in Wisconsin.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced the settlement Thursday.
According to the EEOC’s lawsuit, Patrick Pulliam hurt his right foot, ankle and leg in January 2009 while working for TWC as a cable tap auditor in the Milwaukee area. In 2010, Pulliam’s doctor authorized him to return to work as long as he temporarily did no climbing.
The suit alleged that TWC failed to provide Pulliam with a reasonable accommodation and then fired him in July 2010, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Time Warner says it believes it followed the law, including offering Pulliam other positions, but decided to resolve the suit.
