WASHINGTON – A Northeast Wisconsin congressman introduced a bill Tuesday to speed up propane deliveries during the winter months.
U.S. Rep. Tom Petri, R-6th District, joined U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pennsylvania, in introducing the legislation.
The proposed bill extends the current declaration from the U.S. Department of Transportation to allow tank truck operators carrying propane to drive beyond the current hour-of-service limits through May 31, 2014, in order to speed up delivery in affected states. Current DOT exemptions expire after 30 days.
“This importation legislation provides certainty for suppliers and will expedite the ability for propane to reach homes that are running low or have already run out,” said Petri in a release.
