GREEN BAY – New life is on tap for the old downtown Green Bay Larsen Canning factory.
Work has officially started on Titletown Brewing Company’s expansion in the Broadway District.
It’s in rough shape right now, but when done, the first phase will transform the old vegetable factory into a brewery with banquet, retail and office space.
Project leaders say it will still be some time before you see any major transformation.
“For the next few weeks, it’s more making sure everything is safe and secure. Clean things up,” said Jim Kratowicz, Titletown Brewing Company. “Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on all of our blueprints and brewery engineering and we’re ready to go. As soon as the building is secure, we’ll be hopefully flowing beer here in August.”
The $5 million first phase of the project is being aided by state tax credits and city tax dollars. A second phase will put apartments in a different part of the building.
