GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Hmong Community celebrated the official transfer of its property deed Saturday.
The building the group uses was previously owned by the City of Green Bay.
It took a little more than a year to work with the mayor to receive ownership of the property.
The building will become a community center for people to celebrate and gather with their families.
The president of the center hopes to better the Hmong community.
“We are very happy, and on behalf of the Hmong community, we are glad to accept the property deed, and we hope to continue to be a part of the Hmong community here, and better help the Green Bay area,” said Mary Kong.
The building was owned by the Hmong community 30 years ago, but it had been leasing it to the city.
