WINNEBAGO COUNTY – A state trooper arrested a man following a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Lake Winnebago.
It happened around 3:30 about 1,500 feet out from Paynes Point Road near Neenah.
Authorities say a 1999 Ford Explorer was headed east on Lake Winnebago when the driver lost control. The SUV hit a snow bank, then rolled over several times.
While checking the 56-year-old driver for injuries, the trooper smelled alcohol. After the driver refused any medical treatment, the trooper had him perform field sobriety tests.
Police say the driver was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated – third offense.
The OWI is being handled by the State Patrol, while the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
