NEENAH – Spearers who didn’t get their trophy sturgeon on opening day of the 2014 season are hoping Sunday will be their day to shine.
The DNR said this was the best start to a sturgeon spearing season in a decade with 636 fish registered from Lake Winnebago yesterday.
Another 242 were registered from the Upper River Lakes.
The nearly 900 first day catch is the best since 2004, when more than 1,300 sturgeon were speared.
FOX 11’s Pauleen Le spent the morning back out on the lake to see if day 2 will match opening day.
