WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) – A woman was killed and four other people injured in a fire at a suburban Milwaukee assisted living center.
West Allis Deputy Fire Chief Jay Scharfenberg tells WISN-TV the fire was contained to one apartment and was quickly extinguished Thursday. A 70-year-old woman inside the apartment was killed. Police identify her as Carol Krajcir. Four others were taken to area hospitals. There’s no immediate word on their conditions.
Fire officials say residents of the Heritage House followed the center’s evacuation plan and were allowed back in their apartments Thursday night.
