GRAND CHUTE – A member of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers staff has been “called up” to the major leagues.
The team announced that the Milwaukee Brewers have hired Fox Cities Stadium head groundskeeper Eddie Warczak to be the grounds manager at Miller Park.
Warczak had been with the Timber Rattlers since the end of the 2007 season. The next year, the field won the Sports Turf Managers Association Professional Baseball Field of the Year award.
“Eddie has done a great job for us since he came on as an assistant groundskeeper,” Timber Rattlers President Rob Zerjav said in a news release. “The field gets a lot of use with our 70 games, the WIAA State Tournament, the NCAA Division III College World Series, several high school games, and the annual charity softball game. But, the grass was always green, the infield was always in great shape, and coaches from visiting teams always complimented him on the condition of the field.”
To fill Warczak’s spot, the Timber Rattlers hired Jake Hannes. Hannes interned with the grounds crew in 2010. He spent the last two seasons as a member of the grounds
crew at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.
