TOWN OF FRANKLIN – It took crews nearly 8-hours to get a barn fire under control in Kewaunee County.
Officials say the fire broke out Friday afternoon around 1:30 in the Town of Franklin, east of Denmark.
Fire Crews say they arrived to find a barn full of cows fully engulfed in flames.
The Denmark Fire Chief says there were nearly 300 cows in the barn at the time of the fire.
Only some of the animals managed to escape. However, authorities could not give a number of how many cows were left in the barn.
No people were injured.
Officials said the blaze had been contained as of 9 p.m. Friday night but there were still some smoldering spots.
About 100 firefighters from one dozen area fire departments responded to the fire.
Officials say they are still trying to figure out what caused the fire.
