RIPON – Ripon has ordered the owners of buildings damaged by fire take steps by Wednesday to allow Watson Street to re-open.
The buildings were damaged in a Dec. 11 fire. Since then, temporary fencing around the site to prevent anyone from getting in or being damaged by debris has forced the street to closed – something neighboring businesses have been unhappy about.
While the order is to raze or repair the site, city administrator Lori Rich says the result will likely be that supports will be installed so the walls are secure, allowing Watson Street to reopen by the end of next week. She doesn’t expect actual demolition for some time.
