UPDATE 4:51 p.m.: A WPS spokesperson tells FOX 11 much of the power has been restored to Brown Co. customers, saying it was a weather-related issue.
UPDATE 4:06 p.m.: WPS says power is partially restored in the Bellevue area. About 1,700 customers are still without power in Allouez between the Fox and East rivers.
The outage was caused by an equipment failure, the utility says.
BROWN COUNTY – Brown County sheriff’s officials are warning of traffic lights out because of a power outage in the Allouez-Bellevue area.
The sheriff’s office says Wisconsin Public Service has been contacted, and it is not known how long the power will be out. Drivers are asked to be careful in the area.
A check of WPS’ online power outage map indicated there were about 6,900 customers affected around 3 p.m. WPS says it does not know what is causing the outage.
