TOWN OF RANTOUL – A 60-year-old Hilbert man suffered non-life threatening injuries Tuesday after his pickup truck collided with a train in Calumet County.

It happened just after 1 p.m. near Highway 57/32 and Schneider Rd. in the town of Rantoul.

Sheriff’s officials say the man didn’t stop at the train tracks, but hit the brakes at the last minute. He then collided with the train’s engine.

The crash caused the train’s braking system to lock up.

The railroad crossing was closed for a couple of hours until the train could be moved.
