WAUPACA – It was a battle of teams and winter elements Saturday in Waupaca County as people took to the ice for annual winter tradition.
It was part of the second annual Wintervergnugen Pond Hockey Classic on Shadow Lake in Waupaca. Eleven teams from all over the state competed.
Organizers say the event has grown. Last year there were only six teams.
They say it’s a great way to rally people together during the cold winter months.
“It’s just a great event. The teams are out here having a lot of fun together,” Jeff Anderson of the Waupaca Co. Chamber of Commerce said. “Most of them haven’t skated together in the past so just a great opportunity and fun event.”
All of the money raised at the event goes back to different Waupaca County organizations.
