CHASE – Jan. 19-26 is International Snowmobile Safety Week.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is urging snowmobilers to celebrate by using caution.
Safety week first started in 1995 by the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association.
Seven people have died in Wisconsin since the 2013-2014 snowmobile season started. The DNR said preliminary information shows three of the seven deaths involved alcohol, six involved speed and three happened at night.
The DNR suggest snowmobilers slow down, avoid alcohol, wear helmets and take safety courses.
FOX 11’s Pauleen Le met up with the Chase Sno-Chasers Snowmobile Club to learn more about safety and to preview the group’s upcoming family-friendly event, Sled Fest.
She also samples some delicious snowmobiler favorites at the North Chase Bar and Grill.
