Doug Higgins is the meteorologist for Good Day Wisconsin, as well as FOX 11 News at Five and Nine on the weekends. He comes to FOX 11 from WHOI in Peoria, Illinois, where he was the chief meteorologist. Prior to that, Doug served as the weekend meteorologist at another station here in Green Bay. Doug has a background in covering everything from tropical storms to ice storms, having worked at stations in Corpus Christi, Texas and in Greenville and Tupelo in Mississippi.
Doug earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography (Climatology) and Graphic Design in 1991 from the University of Denver. Doug’s interest in meteorology ignited the day he witnessed two tornadoes and a funnel cloud. Originally an art student, Doug quickly adjusted his studies to include meteorology before heading to Mississippi State University for his graduate work. He graduated from their Broadcast Meteorology Program in 1993. Doug has been a National Weather Association (NWA) seal-holder since 1996.
Doug hopes to call Green Bay his home for good and enjoys golf, skiing, scary movies, and of course, the weather.
